As District Attorney, I chose Page Vernon to be an Assistant District Attorney in 1983 and have followed her career closely. We have many fine lawyers in this district, but Page stands uniquely qualified to be a great District Court Judge. Page is highly respected by all who encounter her. Her respect for every person and her demonstrated strong commitment to our community and to justice will make her a most distinguished Judge.

I believe Page Vernon will bring honor and distinction to the bench. Her wide range of experience in both civil and criminal court, coupled with her long-term ties to this community, give her a unique understanding of the needs of our court system and the values of our community. She is the only candidate for this important office who has enormous practical experience in the Orange and Chatham District Courts. We will be fortunate to have her serving our community as District Court Judge.

Here's why I am supporting Page Vernon for District Court Judge:
* She has an excellent grasp of the law and it's application;
* She has represented people on both sides of most issues;
* She understands there are two sides to every dispute; and
* She is fair-minded.
Give me or my client a judge with those qualities and I'll take her every time.

The public deserves District Court Judges who are mature and know the law. Page Vernon possesses the temperament, maturity, wisdom, integrity and legal ability that are required of a District Court Judge. Her exemplary personal life demonstrates her maturity and commitment to our community, and her broad experience in both civil and criminal law uniquely qualify her for this important position.

I have known and been a friend of Page Vernon for over fourteen years. I have witnessed first hand Page’s genuine concern for children and families. She is a strong advocate for at risk youth and serves on several boards that address the challenges of this population. Page is a solid individual and approaches life in a calm and reassuring manner. Page would make an excellent district court judge.

I am proud to endorse Page Vernon’s candidacy for District Court Judge. She is a remarkable talent, with a long professional history in Chatham County, and proven effectiveness in diverse legal and advocacy settings. She has served Chatham County faithfully as a defense attorney and Assistant DA, a GAL for DSS and private civil cases, and a concerned community volunteer. This professional background gives Page a keen understanding of the complex issues that confront families and children, wisdom to direct families toward recovery and restoration, and toughness to enforce just consequences when necessary to protect children.

As the former Chief Juvenile Court Counselor 1985-94 and then as an Assistant Secretary of the State Department of Juvenile Justice 1994-2006, I met and worked with Page Vernon when she was an assistant District Attorney and later a practicing attorney in the Orange/Chatham court district. I always found her to be thoughtful, detailed and extremely competent in her preparation and management of the cases she handled. Additionally, she went beyond her considerable legal skills to express compassionate and meaningful understanding of the human feelings and emotions involved in the cases she dealt with, cases that had impact on the lives of the young people, their families and their community. It is these qualities that I know she will bring to her role as a Judge and would wholeheartedly endorse her candidacy for District Court Judge in District 15B.

I have known Page Vernon for over 25 years. In that time I have worked with Page in regards to youth and families in Chatham County in her role as Attorney, Guardian Ad Litem, board member and mentor. The words I use to describe Page are: honest, thoughtful, compassionate and fair. She knows which questions to ask, how to assess complex situations and communicate solutions. Page Vernon has all the qualities for making just and difficult decisions in a court of law. It is without question that I fully support her election to District Court Judge!

I am privileged to know Page Vernon both personally and professionally and I know she will make an excellent District Court Judge. Page is compassionate and personable. I have seen her interact with other lawyers, with Judges, and opposing parties. She treats each person with dignity and respect; and even in the most volatile cases, I have seen her maintain her composure and calm demeanor which seems to come naturally to her. Page is a skilled lawyer and has, not only a wide range of experience in both civil and criminal law, but years of experience in the courtroom as a litigator. These qualities are essential, given the daily job of our district court judges. Most people in our community do not appear in our judicial system, but those who do come from all walks of life, with sometimes unique legal problems and with strong feelings about “truth and justice.” We need judges who listen, who care, who are thoughtful and who will render impartial and fair decisions based upon the facts and the law. Page will do just that and our judicial district will be fortunate to have Page Vernon as one of our judges.

I have known Page Vernon both personally and professionally for many years.She has the qualities that we would all hope to find in a judge: she is thoughtful; she has high standards and a strong character, and expects no less of others; she maintains her equanimity in intense moments; she makes sound, logical judgments; and she is able to keep information in perspective while maintaining respect for diverse family backgrounds. Page Vernon has a sincere personal commitment to her community and to serving those in it. She will bean excellent judge.
